Your total media exposure/ breakdown
In todays world it is very hard to imagine a world without
computers, mobile phones, laptops, MP3 players and other common technology.
About 10 years ago the only media I was exposed to was basically newspapers, TV
and desktop computer. Now I two laptops and two desktops including a Mac Lion,
with various software, including Photoshop CS5, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat X
Pro, Adobe Flash Professional CS6, Adobe Premiere Elements 9, Photoshop CS6
Extended, Fireworks CS6, Dreamweaver CS6 and Adobe Illustrator CS6.
I also have an Android phone which I also use for emails and
internet along with the normal. I find now that I only spend between 3-10 hours
a week watching TV compared with about 40 hours on the laptops. As I do a lot
of photography, I tend to spend a lot of time in Photoshop, as I would run
everything through Photoshop before being submitted to newspapers, magazines,
websites or upload to Flickr.
The unfortunate thing is that technology just takes over
your life and I now find that I spend less time with family and friends, so it
just changes your life without you realising it. But on the bright side I can
purchase flights, insurance, car tax and numerous other products form my own
home. Amazon and eBay are two good examples, they are not tangible stores but
both are among the world’s largest retailers. They can also be accessed at
anytime, anywhere in the world. How cool is that?
We’re all exposed to media, so we should use it to our best
advantage. Many businesses have grown and built their reputations by using the
latest media technology. I also use it to promote my karate clubs and publicise
my upcoming events and annual competition. My website and federation Facebook
are massive tools in doing this and are essential to our promotion and letting
people know we’re here.
Total media exposure / breakdown
I’m going to try and breakdown my weekly exposure to social
media into percentages.
Facebook: 60%
Mobile: 15%
LinkedIn: 15%
Blogs: 7%
Twitter: 3%
